I was curious that a purchase at Buddy’s Cannabis in San Jose was showing up on my bank statement as Viktoriya’s Medical Supplies. I searched for them, and there were court documents among the top results. It turns out that these motherfuckers, Matthew Maclear and Aqua Terra Aeris Law Group, took them to court for not having enough bullshit warnings that weed gives you cancer on their products, walls, etc.
This asshole got a $60,000 settlement! OMGWTF
What kind of asshole would DO such a thing?
As a solo practitioner, former gubernatorial appointee, circuit prosecutor, and civil litigator, Mr. Maclear has represented a wide spectrum of clients including the People of the State of California, state agencies, air and water districts, nonprofits, community groups, and business entities. As Assistant General Counsel for Cal/EPA, Mr. Maclear oversaw and managed investigations and litigation handled by agency counsel, Office of the Attorney General, and local prosecutors in addition to running an inspector training program, managing the statewide environmental complaint system, politically sensitive enforcement actions, amongst other duties. Prior to his appointment to Cal/EPA, Mr. Maclear served as a Circuit Prosecutor for seven years handling both civil and criminal environmental, consumer and worker-safety cases for over 20 California rural counties. Mr. Maclear received his juris doctorate from the University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 2000.
They’re also suing San Mateo County over insufficient environmental review before allowing cannabis growing.
What’s so offensive about this is that these people represent the crowd who say that marijuana brings crime and poor people just need to work harder.
They’re basically conducting a vigilante campaign of legal harassment to undermine the will of the people. That legal harassment is essentially armed robbery. This is what they call their line of work:
Aqua Terra Aeris Law Group is dedicated to protecting the California environment and the public health of all Californians, representing nonprofits, community groups, property owners, air districts, environmental justice communities and individuals impacted by pollution. Because our attorneys have experience with a wide range of legal issues, we are able to provide the approach best suited to achieving our clients’ goals, including work under the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Safe Drinking Water and Toxics Enforcement Act (Proposition 65), California Public Records Act (PRA), Inverse Condemnation, Class Action, Civil Rights, Nuisance, Trespass, Planning and Zoning Law, and other key state and federal health and safety statutes.
It’s a good thing the environment has people like that hard at work protecting it!
This is what the legal system really is.
